Ode to the Old

Dear 2018,

365 days of witnessing the best in us, seeing the worst in too many, here we part ways.

What we haven't learned from history, you came rudely knocking down doors to show us. Again and Again. Too much for most to bear, too dangerous to look away. Brutal cages we can't abide, walls no one needs, lives lost without reason.

In a year where many claim broken hearts are necessary so those cracks can let the Light in, I wonder if enough now have scars to illuminate the Way to Truth? And that field beyond wrongdoing and right doing spoken of by Rumi, shared meme after meme?

Sometimes what's right is the wrong witnessed and adjudicated.
I'll meet you there, candle in hand.

Pranams to you, 2018. You certainly did it up big. In destructive fires, drowning floods, devastating winds, you brought confrontational reminders that our earth weeps and burns by our foolishness.

Thankfully, many committed to being Warrior Wayshowers to make it right, to help the masses remember that Humility could be the exact powerful medicine needed, Compassion towards the most vulnerable would cure what ails, and Love might just solve it all.
Hope survives and looks forward from a mountaintop.
I'll meet you there, heart in hand.

Bow down, Breathe Deep, Remember.
Rise Up, Face Forward.

2019 requires the Angels of our Better Nature pay rapt attention to the details, lest the devil surge in through our coveted distraction.

In 2019, let's dog whistle for Love. Let's take a stand for Grace. Let's conspire to Heal.

Raise a glass, share a toast:

All that is to be is already ours. Claim it with breathtaking bravery and beautiful gratitude.

BLISS TIPS

#1

BREATHE. Sounds so simple, yet we often hold our breath when we are stressed, fearful, or unhappy.

#2

LAUGH. Laughter releases all those feel-good brain chemicals. Watch a funny movie, silly YouTube videos or read something humorous.

#3

LISTEN. There's some good science out there that suggests listening to music--specifically kirtan & mantra music--elevates your mood.
